Allotment waiting lists
Dear council,
I am writing to you under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 to request the following information.
Please can you provide a breakdown of the following for each of the past five financial years for the council area.
• How many allotment plots does the council own/rent
• A list of all the allotment sites in the council area
• How many people are registered as allotment holders in the council area
• How many people have been on the waiting list for an allotment for each of the past five years
• The length of time that each person on the list over the 2018/19 financial year has been waiting for an allotment

We hold the waiting list records for the past two years, the waiting list
varies throughout the year
Waiting List as of 01/01/2018 – 178.
Waiting List as of 31/12/2018 – 167.
Waiting List as of 31/12/2019 – 306
We are unable to provide you with information on allotment waiting list
for past 5 to 3 years as it is not held by the Council. In order to
comply with our obligations under the terms of Regulation 10(4)(a) -
Information Not Held - of the EIRs, we hereby give notice that this
information is not held by us. We are required by Regulation 10(1)(b) of
the EIRs to inform you as to why in all the circumstances of the case, the
public interest in maintaining this exception outweighs the public
interest in disclosing this information to you. We are satisfied that we
do not hold this information and consider that, as there is no information
held, the public interest lies with the exception.

2 persons have been waiting for over 3 years
5 persons have been waiting for over 2 years
38 persons have been waiting for over 1 year

INFORMATION ABOUT THE HANDLING OF YOUR REQUEST
As the information which you requested is environmental information, as
defined under Regulation 2(1) of the Environmental Information (Scotland)
Regulations 2004 (the EIRs), we considered that it was exempt from release
through FOISA, and must therefore give you notice that we are refusing
your request under Section 39(2) of FOISA (Freedom of Information
(Scotland) Act 2002). However, you have a separate right to access the
information which you have requested under Regulation 5 of the EIRs, under

We have changed the figures for - number of allotment plots in 2019 (Q1)
and number of registered allotment holders (Q3). Apologies for providing
