Allotment waiting list data

Roedd y cais yn llwyddiannus.

Margaret Campbell

Dear Sir or Madam,

As of December 2008, please could you tell me:

1) How many allotment sites are there in the Council area for which the council has access to waiting list data?

2) How many plots are on these sites in total?

3) In total, how many people are on these waiting lists for an allotment?

4) Are any of these waiting lists closed to further applications?

5) How many sites are there in total in the Council area?

Yours faithfully,

Margaret Campbell

Regarding your request for information regarding allotments under the
Freedom of Information Act 2000: Ref: foi/565/08

Please find set out below the information in response to the above
request:

1. "We have 38 allotment sites across Brighton & Hove city.

2. Approximately 2300 full sized plots (at 250sq m/10 rods each).

3. There are in total 1660 entries on our waiting lists, but
individuals have been able to apply for up to three lists in total.
Therefore, there could be as few as 600 depending on how many people have
multiple requests.

4. All waiting lists are currently closed but will reopen in the New
Year. The council will be making changes to how people can apply to try
to make the process quicker and easier to manage. This means that not all
waiting lists will close should only one get full. For example, if a
particular sites has 150 plots, when there are 150 people waiting, that
individual list will close rather than all (which is what has happened
historically). The council will be publicising these changes in the New
Year.

5. The same question as number 1, and therefore the answer is the
same."
