Dear Civil Aviation Authority,

It was reported that spotters were arrested at Aintree which is unusual and has caused alarm throughout the drone industry.

Could the CAA confirm if it was consulted for these arrests and could the CAA confirm what offence was committed for spotters to be charged with a crime?

Yours faithfully,

I Hudson

FOI Requests, Civil Aviation Authority

Dear Mr Hudson

Thank you for your enquiry. As you have asked a question, rather than made
a request for recorded information, we have not considered this under the
Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA).

I have checked with the relevant teams and they have confirmed that no,
the CAA was not consulted about these arrests, nor are we aware what
offences may have been committed.

Kind regards
