affect of covid 19 on mandatory DFG referrals and staffing within the grant team

The request was successful.

Dear Bromley Borough Council,
Please provide data on how the covid 19 pandemic has adversely affected the volume of DFG referrals during lockdown and now as we are easing out again and how this has impacted the quota of staff dealing with DFG referrals/caseload. If an impact has been made by Covid, what are the levels of redundancy or re deployment of staff within the grant team?

Yours faithfully,

Jon Doe

Dear Requester

Further to your recent FOI enquiry, having completed my enquiries, please
see response highlighted in blue below.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

FOI RESPONSE:

In April the number of referrals for DFGs halved from 40 in 2019 to 19 in
2020.

In May and June the number of referrals returned to broadly similar
figures to the 2019 levels

One and a half FTE equivalent DFG staff have been redeployed to assist
with shielding and hospital discharge  work whilst vulnerable clients
could not be visited and contractors were not working.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We trust this completes your FOI enquiry which has now been closed.

Thank you for your request.

Regards
