Dear Danny King,

I would like to thank you for your prompt action, your help is greatly appreciated and I hope my request is not too much of an inconvenience to you.

Danny King,

Dear Dominic,

Thank you for your email enquiry received by Luton NHS.

My colleague has asked for further clarification as to within what
boundaries you would define the responsibilities you ask of below. For
example, is this in terms of funding or patient placements?

The PCT holds responsibility for some funding streams and for statutory
commissioned care. These would include the funding of district and
Macmillan nurse care contributions, as well as Continued Healthcare
Funding.

However, we are not responsible for adult social care residential
placements, which would be with Luton Borough Council. Nonetheless, we
would be responsible for some health services provided *within* such
placements, including the above examples and GP provision.

Depending on which area you are interested in, you can see how this will
dictate the response you receive. Once we have received further
clarification from you, we will look into your request further.

Regards,

Danny.

Hi Danny

It would be helpful if the requester could be more specific about what
information he is actually asking for.

There are different funding streams and areas of responsibility that PCTs
have for clients in both nursing homes and residential social care.

Many thanks

Dear Danny King,

Thank you for your response,
I am trying to ascertain the current cost per individual for adult social care. I see from your response that you are not responsible for all of the fees, with this in mind I will amend my request as follows

2. How many are suffering from a learning disability

3. How many are suffering from a brain injury

4. How many are in residential care (EMI) suffering from dementia

5. How many are in nursing homes for the over 65’s

6. Please provide a breakdown of the weekly fees per adult according to need to cover adults suffering from a brain injury, a mental illness or a learning disability.

e.g.
Adult 1 ABI £900 per week, Brain Injury 2 severe
Adult 2 ABI £850 per week, Brain Injury, 1 severe
Adult 3 LD £790 per week, Learning Disability
Adult 4 MI £900 Per Week, Mental Illness (schizophrenia)

8. Do you have any service users suffering from either a Brain Injury, a learning disability or having a mental illness being cared for outside your borough?

9. Please name the private and local authority services to which you provided funding and the average paid per adult per annum.

e.g. Care House received £46,000 for 365 days of care

I would like to thank you for your prompt action in processing this request.

Danny King,

Dear Dominic,

Thank you for your revised information request. My colleague has
highlighted further points they would appreciate clarification on, so as
to furnish our reply appropriately.

* Are in you interested in adults in nursing care that are fully funded by
health (CHC), partially funded by health (FNC) or both, as these
distinctions will produce very different outcomes.

* Where you ask in question 1 for the number of adults in social (nursing)
care that we provide funding for, do you *only* want included patients in
the categories you mention at Q2 - Q4 (learning disability, brain injury
or dementia) or *all* patients that funding is provided for?

* Where you ask in question 5 for the number of patients in nursing homes
for the over 65's, again do you *only* want included patients in the
categories you mention at Q2 - Q4 (learning disability, brain injury or
dementia) or *all* patients in nursing homes for the over 65's?

* Where you ask at question 8 for the private and local authority services
that were provided funding and the average paid per adult per annum, again
do you *only* want included services for patients in the categories you
mention at Q2 - Q4 (learning disability, brain injury or dementia) or
*all* services that were provided funding?

We look forward to receiving this clarification at your earliest
convenience.
