Can you tell me when was the last audit conducted and can I have results
of that audit?
The last external accessibility audit was carried out in late 2015. The
audit highlighted the following issues:
o Non-functioning skip navigation
o Missing skip navigation
o Unlabelled form fields
o Orphaned form label
o Data tables with incorrect mark up
o Layout tables containing summaries
o Duplicated link text
o Users not notified of content change
o Incorrect heading structure
o Empty headings
o Untitled frames
o Areas inaccessible via keyboard
o Inaccessible non-HTML documents
o Video and audio missing text alternatives
o Unable to pause moving content
o Links not visible in focus
o Text resizing
Also what steps is the council taking to make sure that websites are
accessible by September 23 2020?
o Daily monitoring of accessibility issues flagged in Siteimprove
o Accessibility guideline document compiled and distributed to current
web users and Comms team for PDF and Word document creation. Compiled
and researched utilising feedback from the Government Accessibility
Community group and Siteimprove Accessibility handbook.
o Installed 'NVDA' screen reader software to Editor's PCs to test
o Refer to Government Digital Service manual for guidance
o Ongoing training of all web editors to share learnings about how
websites can be made accessible
o Introduced a new accessibility checklist for e-forms, including a
screen reader check
