Dear Planning Inspectorate,
Appeal T/APP/5142/A/75/338/G6 was decided by an Inspector in 1975 and his decision letter is dated 4.8.1975. In para 9, he makes reference to some traffic accident data that the Appellant, Mr Johns, had obtained from the Cambridgeshire County Surveyor. Will you please supply copies of all documents that relate to this aspect of the matter.
Dear Mr Allen
Thank you for your email of 14 April setting out your request under the Freedom of Information Act for a copy of traffic accident data that were apparently submitted as evidence relating to an appeal that was decided in 1975.
Unfortunately, I am unable to comply with your request because the information requested is not held by the Planning Inspectorate. To explain, as it is the responsibility of local planning authorities across the country to hold and make available on request all documents relating to planning appeals within their area, we do not store them ourselves, due to the costs to the public purse of duplicating records for such information. Our own copies of appeal representations are therefore routinely destroyed one year after the date of the decision.
Although we cannot help you directly, you may wish to contact the relevant local planning authority (unfortunately the reference number is incomplete so I am unable to ascertain which LPA is involved).
I hope this is helpful.
