I would like to request a CD of all the Station Announcements, i.e: The next train to depart from platform 1, will be the 1700 Greater Anglia service to Shenfield......
Thank you for your email of 28 November 2012 where you requested
recordings of all the station announcements on a CD.
Network Rail is not covered by the Freedom of Information Act, so
we don’t deal with requests in the same way as bodies which are.
Nevertheless, our focus is on proactively disclosing information as
if we were bound by the Act hence we strive to adopt the same
On this occasion we are unable to provide the information you have
requested as, in most cases, each word is recorded in isolation
once for middle and once for end of sentence. This is then pieced
together by the Customer Information Software according to the
train movements and real time requirements of the Station Operator.
Downloaded as a set of WAV files, it would be a series of
disjointed words that could not be played on a standard audio
device due to the coding. Furthermore, there are several different
types of CIS nationally and each one uses a different recording
