InfoRequest, Cardiff University

Dear Isabel

I am writing in response to your Freedom of Information request dated 26
January 2021.

Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, the University is required to
provide information held in response to a request. However we are not
obliged to create new information in response to a request or to express
opinions on matters not already recorded. However in the interests of
openness and transparency I have reproduced your questions below and set
out our corresponding responses:

 1. Could provide any information regarding the 2021 entry cut off for
interview?

Places on Medicine courses are capped and so universities have rigorous
scoring and selection systems to select the applicants invited to
interview. For applicants to Cardiff, this includes giving a numerical
score to academic qualifications already achieved and, where applicants
have scored the highest possible score, ranking by UCAT/GAMSAT.

 2. Has the UCAT been used this year when determining for interview?

UCAT/GAMSAT: We do not have a minimum UCAT or GAMSAT threshold score,
however they may be used as part of our selection process.

 3. If some candidates had full points for academics why may they not
receive an interview?

UCAT/GAMSAT: We do not have a minimum UCAT or GAMSAT threshold score,
however they may be used as part of our selection process

 4. How many applications did you receive this year and how many
interviews will be held?

We received over 3500 applications this year and we are interviewing
approximately 1,100 applicants.

I trust this information satisfies your enquiry. The University has a
Freedom of Information Complaints Procedure should you feel dissatisfied
with this response or the way in which your request was handled.
Complaints must be made in writing and must set out why you believe the
University has not met its obligations under the Freedom of Information
Act. You may email your complaint to [1][email address] where it
will be forwarded to the Head of Compliance and Risk who will be
responsible for overseeing the review.

If you remain dissatisfied following the outcome of your complaint, you
have the right to apply directly to the Information Commissioner for
consideration. The Information Commissioner can be contacted at the
following address: Information Commissioner's Office, Wycliffe House,
Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5AF.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your interest in
