A100 gap year

The request was partially successful.

Dear Queens’ College, Cambridge,

I would like to request some data on the A100 applications from the last four admissions cycles, under the terms of the Freedom Of Information Act 2000.

The data I would like is as follows,

1) How many applicants applied post A level and of those how many received interview and offers.
2) For the applicants who were given offers (post a level ) and the ones who didn't (post a level) could I get anonymised data on what A Levels they had taken and their average ums scores in each invididual subject. If an applicant took retakes , could this be indicated as well as how many were taken.

As well as this, I would like their bmat scores.

3) Could I also have a copy of any scoring system used before, during or after interview.

4) Finally, how is contextual data used for gcse's and are there personalized offers for medicine?

Yours faithfully,

James Overett

Dear Mr Overett

Further to your request dated 16 February, 2017, under the Freedom of
Information Act, the answer to your question is detailed below:

Queens’ has had 9 applicants apply post-A-level for Medicine in the last 4 rounds and we have made 4 offers. Given the small number of applicants involved, we are claiming a section 40 exemption and have instead aggregated the data to give an overall picture. Typically achievement across the 3 best science subjects at A-level has been between 94.5 and 96.5% in this period. Successful candidates typically score 6.0 or more in sections 1 and 2.

All 9 applicants had A levels in Biology, Chemistry and Maths; 6 also had Physics

The range and mean performance for each subject and the BMAT were as follows

BMAT 1 range 4.9-8.3 Mean 5.944444444
BMAT 2 range 4.4-9 Mean 6.111111111
BMAT 3 range 2.5-4 Mean 3.333333333
Bio range 92.8-100 Mean 94.53333333
Ch range 85.7-96.7 Mean 92.15555556
Maths range 84.7-97.5 Mean 92.02222222
Phy range 84.7-97.8 Mean 92.66666667

Information of the use of contextual data and GCSE is available on the university’s website ([1]http://www.undergraduate.study.cam.ac.uk... [2]<http://www.undergraduate.study.cam.ac.uk...>). Queens’ tailors its offers to meet individual circumstances. We do not have a mechanistic scoring system that rates applicants before, during and after interviews. All decisions are taken holistically, in light of the gathered field.
