Problems
5(a)
New Problems
5(a)i
Communication with Recycling
JR
DL requested that any contact for recycling team be through Contender and any
emails are sent to NA. This is because Recycling do not have Contender at their
depot so have to call NA or the Veolia Control Room to access the initial report and
to request additions to Contender. Any serious problems direct to DG and DL via
phone or email.
JR agreed to email Officers.
5(a)ii
Missed Collections to be checked
JR
DL requested that before StreetCare Ward Officers send any emails regarding
missed collections that they check the bin/box to make sure it’s not contaminated.
JR asked for crews to record any problems and to let StreetCare know asap so we
can try to resolve as and when they occur if possible.
JR agreed to email Officers
5(a)iii
24 Tookey Close
MOB / NA
This is an assisted collected that it appears crew are unaware of. NA will liaise with
MOB to resolve the matter.
5(a)iv

monitoring by village manager/foreman.

when properly presented

On-going Problems
Information
5(b)i

3
The expected 100 x 240L grey bins never arrived. Still awaiting orders expected in
September. All requests for 240L grey bins are completed up to about mid June.
5(b)ii
Weeds throughout Brent
JFM reported that three extra teams of operatives were manually clearing the weeds.
This week there were 7 extra operatives working in East Lane Village, 7 extra
operatives in Gladstone Village and a mobile team of 6 operatives working as
follows:
Alperton Village
Monday + Tuesday
Harlesden Village
Wednesday
Kilburn Village
Thursday
Awaits
Friday
Weed spraying is taking place in Barnhill Ward today and the rest of the Ward
should be completed by the end of the week if possible. LB is overseeing this
project.
JR felt that this may be too little and too late for the BV195 inspections.
5(c)
For Further Action
Nothing for discussion this week. Most matters recorded in item
4 above
.
6.
Corrective Action Plans

Monitoring by Veolia and StreetCare
6(b)
On-Going Reviews
6(b)i
CAP 31 – 92 Craven Park Road, Harlesden
JR/PB
Feedback from RR is very negative. He feels that the crews aren’t trying to comply
CAP31
with the CAP and that the bins appear to always be on the street. Since the start of
11/08/08
the CAP the bins have rarely been replaced properly
End Review
6(c)
No end reviews
Failures for Forwarding

6(d)

Statistics
Information
JR circulated statistics but there was insufficient time for discussion.
Missed Collections
7(d)i
Domestic Refuse
Information
Increase in missed collections from 93 last week to 105 this week. JR reported
these to be very high and well above the target of 42.
7(d)ii
Green Box
Information
Decrease in green box missed collections from 231 last week to 182 this week.
Figures are very high but it is thought that some contaminations are wrongly being
reported as missed collections.
7(d)iii
Organic
Information
Decrease in missed organic collections from209 to 164. Figures are very high but it
is thought that some contaminations are wrongly being reported as missed
collections as with green box collections.

7(d)v
Rectification Points
Information

IT Up-dates
7(e)i
Contender printing / reprinting problem 5(a)xi
Information
NA explained that currently no information is being printed from contender to
Veolia because it appears that the print queue is stuck and nothing seems to be able
to clear it. IT, DataPro and JES are all looking into the problem. As of this moment
we have no solution but hopefully we will soon.
Currently the only information which is necessary to receive via prints are
“reprints” from contender, all other information is ‘live’ to be actioned on
Contender.
NA asks that officers could in cases were they were updating important information
and were unable to re-default the job (maybe because the job had been cleared and
then realised it that there was a further problem) or on an Adhoc (were information
can not be re-defaulted only reprinted), to email NA something basic like a screen
print or a reference number so Veolia will still know that there is something that
needed to be done on that request. Most jobs which officers dealt with can be re-
defaulted and therefore this would only be for the odd ones that can’t.

Any Other Matters
8(a)
Green Box Deliveries
Information
The green box deliveries were progressing well considering the number of requests
coming in.
8(b)
Extra Keys
MOB
DL asked for FB11 and FB14 keys. MOB to remind Tony Martin to provide keys.
DG & DL
Two keys for Wembley litter bins handed to JFM by MOB for Wembley Events
clean ups.
8(c)
Training for Call Centre
Call Centre
DL suggested that training may be necessary to ensure that the Call Centre are
asking the right questions when residents call to report missed collections or other
problems. Many of the missed collection calls are actually contaminated and as
such the crews leave the uncollectible items with a contrary card to educate
residents. DL feels that insufficient investigation is being completed at the time of
the initial report and an opportunity to educate residents is being missed by the call
centre.
JR agreed to pass suggestion to Raj and Marjaneh.
8(d)
Abuse by Residents to Crew
DL reported an increase in abuse by residents to his crews since the start of
compulsory recycling. JR and MOB agreed to liaise with DG and DL and try to
resolve any problems between residents and operatives.
9.
Next Meeting
