In accordance with the government’s plans for the reform of the health service, NHS South
East Coast is working to support the development of new local clinical commissioning
consortia within the region.  This is in line with the government’s plans to give these groups
of clinicians the lead role in the commissioning of health services at a local level in the future.
A number of local clinical commissioning groups have been given ‘pathfinder’ status as part
of a national programme of work to test the new commissioning arrangements before formal
arrangements come into place. Information about the local clinical commissioning groups
which have achieved pathfinder status to date is available on our website at:
This includes information about the lead contact/GP within each group. You will need to
contact the individual consortia directly for further information about their local leadership
arrangements, as we do not hold additional information at the SHA.
I hope this information is helpful, but if you are unhappy with this response please let us
know, giving your reasons. It will then be considered by one of our executive directors who
will respond in writing. This letter will also include details about how to contact the
Information Commissioner.
We would welcome your feedback on how you feel we have managed your request and
whether there is anything you think we could have done to improve our processes. If you
have any comments that you wish to pass on, please email
Yours sincerely,
Katie Harrison
Communications Officer
