RE: L4 Diploma in Associate Ambulance Practice - FutrQuals and Qualsafe
Thanks. That’s really helpful and timely. Our Education team are currently looking at it as we also
do not accept FREC5 currently.

This was also something that came up about the AAP. I've not heard back from our Clin Ed team
yet, but we're flat not taking FREC 5, and now QualSafe can do AAP, it's easier for a firm to stay on
brand that way which reduces further our need to consider it.
We still have concerns about QS assurance processes though, which is what drove me to send this
email.
Thought it might be of use.

FYI, thought this may be of interest regarding Qualsafe AAP vs FuturQuals AAP.

Subject: L4 Diploma in Associate Ambulance Practice ‐ FutrQuals and Qualsafe
Morning Ian,
We have said for PAS we accept the L4 Diploma in Associate Ambulance Practice by Future Quals as the benchmark
for a PAS EMT/EAC (along with old IHCD Ambulance Aid / EMT). We did not accept Qualsafe Awards Level 5
Diploma in First Response Emergency and Urgent Care (FREC5) as the structure is modular, so you need FREC3, 4
then do FREC5, and can do each element with a different training supplier. It is workbook led, with less classroom
element. I am also led to believe the Qualsafe centre assurance and EQA is less rigorous, and from my view of the
FREC3 course delivery I see advertised I can imagine that.

The LAS, and most Trusts from what I understand, seem to use Future Quals L4 Diploma in Associate Ambulance
Practice. This has sufficient classroom time, is not modular so a single course for QA purposes and meets our need
in terms of content.

However Qualsafe have now offered a L4 DAAP, and I’m expecting to get questions on whether it is acceptable in
the near future. It was only released today to my knowledge. Many of my suppliers with training centres are
Qualsafe centres as the FREC3 and 4 combo is the de facto standard for ECA in the PAS field, and Future Quals didn’t
really have a competitive equivalent. I can see many of them will drop the need to go through two separate
awarding bodies if they can avoid it and just try to use the new Qualsafe L4 DAAP. Link below and qualification
specification attached.

Do you have any thoughts on this, or a view I can prep for when I get the questions?
Hope things are going as well as possible in CES.
