I wrote to you on 2 June regarding your request for information.   
 
Information requested 
 
1.  A breakdown of all the costs associated with the scrapped M4 relief road over the 
last 10 years including the full cost of the inquiry, any planning costs, consultancy 
fees and legal costs. 
 
Our response 
 
I confirm we hold information caught by your request which is attached at the end of 
this letter. The spend detailed relates to work on the ‘M4 Corridor around Newport 
Project’, which commenced in 2013 and is understood to be the basis of your request.  
For information - preceding this, within the 10 year period you request, activity took 
place on investigating alternatives to a new section of motorway but they are not 
considered relevant to your request.
