Expenditure and activity surrounding the West Northamptonshire Council election count

We're waiting for Andrew McGlocklin to read a recent response and update the status.

Andrew McGlocklin

Dear West Northamptonshire Council,

A spokesperson from West Northamptonshire Council quoted that the reason behind selecting Silverstone circuit as a location for the election count was as follows: "The count events will take place over three days and must be held following rigorous covid-19 guidance. Public venues have been considered but these weren’t large enough to keep several hundred staff and guests safe. We’re sure you’ll agree that safety always comes first."

I am keen to understand the costings around the election count event, which other venues were considered during the event build and numbers on people in attendance at the count. Please can you provide as much detail as possible to the following questions:

- About the venue -
1. Which venues were considered for the West Northamptonshire Election Count.
2. What were the capacities for these venues.
3. What was the total cost quoted to hire these venues.
4. What cost was paid to use the Silverstone venue for the election count.
5. Has Silverstone received any benefits, other than venue hire payment, for agreeing to host the election count.
6. Was West Northampton Council gifted anything for hosting the election count at Silverstone, inclusive of tickets to future race meetings and corporate hospitality?

- Branding -
1. How much was spent on Silverstone / Motorsport themed branding, marketing and design for the election count? - This includes both print and digital designs.

- About the event -
1. How many people (council staff, volunteers, councillors etc.) attended the site for the count? (Please provide a categorised staff/volunteer/councillor breakdown for each day of the count).

2. How many rooms were used at the Silverstone circuit, what were the capacity for each of these rooms and what was the maximum amount of people in these rooms at each time.

3. Was any entertainment provided to any VIP's during the count, if yes, what was provided, and what was the cost?.

4. Was any food and beverage provided to those in attendance, if yes, what was provided and what was the cost?

Yours faithfully,

Martin McLaughlin
