Nature of Request : Suicide Deaths
REQUEST
Can you please tell me how many people have died as a result of suicide since 23 March
2020?
Following on from this can I also enquire how many people died of suicide during the
preceding 12 month period.
TRUST RESPONSE
Information regarding the number of suicides is not recorded by South Tyneside and
Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust and is therefore exempt under Section 21 of the
Freedom of Information Act.
The Trust does not collect this data and a death can only be classified as a suicide, and
documented as such on a death certificate, if the Coroner gives a conclusion of suicide
following completion of an inquest.
