Request for information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000

 

The council has considered your request which was received on 21^st
January 2021 and our response is shown below.

 

You requested:

 

Please provide me with a list of the approved Discretionary grants that
Bolton Council have given since November 2020

 

In accordance with section 1(1) of the Act, the council has a duty to
confirm whether it holds the information of the description specified in
the request, and if that is the case, to have the information communicated
to the requester.

 

Local Authorities are administering both grants on behalf of the
Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS). The council
collate all data regarding grants and regularly send this information to
the BEIS, the BEIS control this information. To date the BEIS have not
given the council permission to publish or release this data in response
to a Freedom of Information Request. For the purposes of the Freedom of
Information Act (FOIA), in accordance with section 3(2)(a) of the Act it
is held by the council only on behalf of another person. When information
is held by a public authority solely on behalf of another person, it is
not held for FOIA purposes. Therefore, in accordance with section 1 the
requested information cannot be provided as it is not held by the council.

 

In accordance with section 16(1) of the Act, the council has a duty to
provide advice and assistance to you, as far as it is reasonable to do so.
BEIS as the controller and for the purposes of the FOIA the holder of this
information are also subject to the FOIA, you can request this information

shows the total amount of money that each Local Authority in England has:

• distributed to SMEs to date

• Retail, Hospitality and Leisure Business Grants Fund (RHLGF)
