Dear Mr Vann
Freedom of Information Act 2000
Thank you for your enquiry of 3 December 2020, which we have considered under the
terms of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the FOI Act).
You asked for the following information:
“Have you considered the use of an artificial intelligence program to completely
restructure the UK Tax system, so that all taxation is fair and HMG income is
maximised?
[I am not talking about using AI to maximise HMG revenue under the current
taxation regime.]
The model can be set up on known current data, ie personal income, personal
wealth, firm's income, firm's wealth.
If you have seriously started to explore this use of AI, please advise what progress
you have made”
Following a search of our records, we can confirm that HM Treasury does not hold
information within the scope of your request.
If you have any queries about this letter, please contact us. Please quote the reference
number above in any future communications.
Yours sincerely
Information Rights Unit
