DN FER0238017 issued last month has unambiguously ruled that information relating to the IPCC assessment process is subject to the EIR.

Readers should note that the Under Secretary of State for Defence refused to release this email, writing to Tim Boswell MP on 28 August 2008 that it was because it was:

"information that if disclosed would be likely to prejudice relations between the United Kingdom and the IPCC and would be likely to inhibit the the free and frank provision of advice or the the free and frank exchange of views for the purpose of deliberation."

This important email from Jonathan Overpeck to John Mitchell was eventually released on 23 September 2010 by the MOD in a private email, but with Overpeck's name redacted.
