Dear Andy Pennington,
Thank you for your Freedom of Information (FoI) request received on 30th October. You
wrote:
“Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.
I am writing to request an internal review of Department for Work and Pensions's
handling of my FOI request 'Universal Credit - Agent Led Process for dealing with Absent
joint tenant (Untidy tenancies) and unequal apportionment of rent'.
The NHF in https://www.housing.org.uk/news-and-blog... quote DWP as saying "Note
from the DWP
On 23 June 2020 a new ‘Record a change in joint tenancy costs’ to-do was introduced to
Universal Credit Full Service, which ensures cases are automatically correctly paid each
month without the need for manual payments or continued claimant intervention. New
guidance has been issued to Work Coaches and Case Managers to make them aware of
the changes. "
Please could i have a copy of this guidance referred to above.”
DWP Response
In response to your internal review request, we can confirm that the handling of your original
request and response has now been appropriately reviewed by someone unconnected with
the handling of your original request.
As a result of this review we can advise that the original response was partly correct. Your
complaint is therefore partially upheld. The reason for this is as follows: your request has
been widened. In your original request, you requested for Agent Led Process for dealing with
untidy tenancies. As you have now requested the guidance issued to Work Coaches and
Case Managers, I have therefore provided you with the attached Universal Credit guidance.
If you have any queries about this letter, please contact us quoting the reference number
above.
Yours sincerely,
DWP Central Freedom of Information Team
