Dear Orien
Reference:
FOI/2670 School Supply Spend 2019 / 2020 Thank you for your request for information which was received by Manchester City Council on 30/7/20 and has
been considered under the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (“the 2000 Act”).
You asked:
Please can you confirm the total spend on third party agencies for the provision of educational supply staff by
your local authority.
I would like to know the amounts paid by each Primary, Secondary and FE Institution in the local authority, in
relation to temporary staffing cover (Teachers, Cover Supervisors, Unqualified Teachers, Teaching Assistants,
Nursery Nurses etc).
The time frames I require are from 1st September 2019 until present if at al possible.
Please could you supply this information (in excel) for each school including school name, type of school,
amount spent, and the company this money was paid to.
In response to your request, please see below:
Refusal - information not held by the Council
The information you have requested is not held by Manchester City Council. Schools carry out the recruitment
and appointment of their own temporary staff.
Please see the link for contact details:
https://www.manchester.gov.uk/directory/84/school_finder
. The only information the Council holds is in the
form of Consistent Financial Reports (CFR) returns which schools submit to the authority as part of their
year-end closedown pack. The information that schools provide isn't specific enough to enable the information
requested to be provided. To obtain this information, each individual school would need to be contacted to
provide this data for each financial year which, when submitted, wil need to be analysed prior to being
accumulated for the response.
The Department of Education publishes the Consistent Financial Reporting (CFR) document at the end of
December/January every year which covers the financial year. The information is published by fiscal year
(April to March) not academic year.
The data published is about the schools income and expenditure which is used to support benchmarking and
enables comparative reports to be produced for governors and local authorities (LAs).
Note: MCC don’t have any
FE institutions Please note if you are not satisfied with this response you may ask for an internal review. If you wish an
internal review to be undertaken, please contact the Democratic Services Legal Team, whose address is, PO
Box 532, Town Hal , Manchester, M60 2LA, email:
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx@xxxxxxxxxx.xxx.xx in the first
instance.
