Thank you for your request dated 24 February 2020 which you asked for the following
information from the Ministry of Justice (MoJ):
I will clarify my request:

“Courts” means any HMCTS building from which the public has access and at
which a Magistrate is based. In other words, where a Criminal Magistrate
opeaates from.
•
"Current time” means as today and currently in operation.
•
Criminal Magistrates Courts are all I require information on.
Your request has been handled under the FOIA.
I can confirm that the MoJ holds the information that you have requested.
As at February 2020 there are 152 operational courts that hear Magistrates’ cases in
England and Wales. This is the total number of court buildings where magistrates’ work has
been heard between the period February 2019 to February 2020.
