HMCTS Counter Fraud Referrals
Dear Her Majesty's Courts and Tribunals Service,
Further to your FOIA response 191208002 response dated 6th January 2020, please could you provide the following information:
1. Starting from the year the tribunal was first set up, please could you provide a year-by-year breakdown of the number of First-tier Tribunal (Social Security and Child Support) cases where a referral was made to the HMCTS Counter Fraud and Investigations team.
2. Of the cases that were referred, please could you provide breakdowns of:
a. the number of cases relating to tax evasion
b. the number of cases relating to tax avoidance
c. the number of cases resulting in police taking action
d. the number of cases resulting in HMRC recovering tax owed
