Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, I’d like to make a request regarding the careers support services available at your university.

If possible, I’d like to receive data specific to the 2018/2019 academic year.

Specifically, I’d like to request data on the student careers services spend. (Excluding operational costs.)

This could fall under career support or careers programmes.

If this includes a combined group of departments, could you please specify each department and their individual spend?

If I could please receive the data in a spreadsheet format, that would be fantastic. Feel free to get in touch if you require any clarification from myself!

Further to my email of 20^th January, our team have liaised with relevant
colleagues to gather the information in response to your request. We would
like clarification on the following points, referred to in your request:

 

•             Please clarify your definition of ‘operational’ costs, and
what elements you would like included or excluded? For instance, pay costs
are usually counted as operational and we were working on the basis of
excluding those. However, there are other financial elements can be deemed
operational, such as different kinds of fixed or variable costs related to
business or equipment.

 

The University reasonably requires this information in order to identify
the data you have requested. Please note that under Section 1 (3) of the
FOIA, the University is not under further obligation to comply with your
request until such time as the above clarification is provided, as this
affects the whole of your request. We will advise you of the revised
timeframe for responding in full, once clarification is received. A new
20-day timeframe will commence one day after receipt of clarification in
accordance with Sections 1(3) and 16 of the FOI Act.

Response: the University’s expenditure on careers services falls within
our Careers, Employability and Enterprise Team. The total spend on
services, was £268,028.60 for the academic year 2018/19.
