Dear Ms Gillespie

RE: FREEDOM OF INFORMATION

Please find below our response to your request for information in accordance with the
Freedom of Information Act.

The Directorate Manager for Trauma and Orthopaedics at Wirral University Teaching
Hospital has provided the information required for this response.

Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) assess the quality of care delivered
to NHS patients from the patient perspective. Currently covering two clinical
procedures, PROMs calculate the health gains after surgical treatment using pre-
and post-operative surveys.

The two procedures are: hip replacements & knee replacements.

With this is mind, please provide responses to the following questions:

Q1.
What method(s) is your Trust using to gather and collate PROMs data?

Prior to admission for hip or knee arthroplasty, patients are seen by a Specialist
Nurse in Joint School.   PROMS data is collected during this consultation.

Q2.
Do you use an electronic solution to gather this data, is it paper-based, or
both?

The system is paper based.

Q3.
If electronic, what solution(s) are you using?

Not applicable

Q4.
Who is responsible for the gathering and collation of PROMs data within your
Trust (name & job title)?

Nurse Practitioner (Trauma & Orthopaedics)

AQ Orthopaedic Administrator (Trauma & Orthopaedics)

We hope this information fully answers your request but if anything further is required or
you are dissatisfied with the management of your request, please contact the Access to
Information Office.

Yours sincerely
