Further to your enquiry, which we received on 28 November 2019, you requested the 
following information which we have provided our response in green below each question 
asked for your reference: 
 
My research involves the levels of minimal restraint (or proportional response) 
training conducted within the UK Ambulance Services. 
 
I would be grateful if you could supply me with information pertaining to the 
following: 
 

1.  Current training undertaken by the Trust and by which training provider (or e-
learning). 
Training is delivered by 1 full day face-to-face for new operational staff entering the 
service. 
1/2 day Refresher training is provided every 3 years face-to-face for all operational 
staff Operational staff have to complete an online e-nav refresher each year. 
Stand2 (external provider) provide our training. 
 
2.  Understanding and/or acceptance of staff regarding the necessity for the 
training under current guidelines. 
We do not record any of this information. Stand2 complete relevant feedback 
proformas. 
 
3.  Any statistics relating to the application of restraint activity (positive or 
negative).
