Thank you for your email of 1 November in which you made the following request for 
information: 
 
Please provide details of the costs incurred by the Department for design, 
development and work for the readiness of the Age Verification for Pornography in the 
United Kingdom.  
 
We have dealt with your request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the Act). I can 
confirm that the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) holds information 
within scope of your request. The departments total spend externally has been 
£2,225,153.77, up to 31 August 2019 excluding VAT. This was paid to the British Board of 
Film Classification (BBFC) for design and implementation purposes.
