FREEDOM OF INFORMATION REQUEST - REFERENCE NO: 005264/19
I write in connection with your request for information which was received by
Derbyshire
Constabulary on 18/10/2019.
I note you seek access to the following information:
(1) whether there is any current operation related to the policing of hunting and to hunt
protest activity in Derbyshire?
(2) if such an operation exists, when did it begin, what name does it operate under and what
is its remit?
(3) whether Derbyshire Police has entered into any memorandum of understanding (MOU)
or written agreement with any landowners or hunt organisers?
(4) If such an MOU or agreement exists, whether Derbyshire Police can provide a copy?
Result of Searches
Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted within Derbyshire Constabulary
to locate any relevant information. The searches located some information relevant to your
request.

We aim to work in partnership to with event organisers and, where possible, protest groups.
Our core policing responsibilities are:
The protection of life and property
Preventing crime and anti- social behaviour
Keeping the peace
Protecting and reassuring communities
Investigating crime and bringing offenders to justice
Strategic Objectives:
To ensure the safety of the public, event goers and protestors in the build up to,
throughout and post the event.
To maximise the safety of officers and staff deployed to such events.
To develop and monitor intelligence and information to inform decision making and risk
assessments.
To provide an appropriate and proportionate response to any major incidents or
emergencies that may occur as a result of the event or during the event.
To maintain public order and public peace in the build up to, throughout and post the
event.
To work with hunt organisers, protest groups and other partners to ensure everyone is
able to exercise their fundamental Human Rights in a safe manner.
To work with event organisers and protest groups to minimise anti-social and threatening
behaviour that may arise from the event.
To prevent crime and take all reasonable steps to bring offenders to justice through an
intelligence led approach to policing.
To minimise the disruption to the different communities such as residents, businesses,
shoppers and other visitors.
To maximise opportunities to communicate with and inform those attending, making full
use of social media to do so.
