Dear Ms Bednarova

Freedom of Information Request FOI0476 – Mental Health First Aid Training

Thank you for your email of 14 October 2019 requesting information about
Mental Health First Aid Training at Falmouth University. We have dealt
with your request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

We have now completed searching for the information you requested.

Your Request
“I would like to receive information about the number of your full-time
employees who currently have certification in mental health first aid
training.

I would like to also kindly ask for the total number of students attending
your university at the moment.”

Our Response
Request 1
I would like to receive information about the number of your full-time
employees who currently have certification in mental health first aid
training.

Response 1
It is important to note that Falmouth University shares a campus with the
University of Exeter and therefore services such as Student Support and
Health and Safety are provided by a shared services provider, FXPlus.
FXPlus may hold the information you are seeking. If you have not already
done so, you may wish to contact [1][email address].

Additionally, the University offers mental health Awareness training for
its academic staff and approximately 150 members of staff have completed
this training. Although we are not aware that any Falmouth University
staff hold formal certification from an external provider, this two-day
course broadly covers the Mental Health First Aid qualification, but from
a University perspective.

Request 2
I would like to also kindly ask for the total number of students attending
your university at the moment.

Response 2
This information will be published in accordance with [2]Falmouth
University’s submissions and publications schedules. We are not obliged
under section 22 of the Freedom of Information Act to provide information
that is intended for future publication.

(Figures for the 2017/18 academic year are already published at the
following link:
[3]https://www.hesa.ac.uk/data‐and‐analysis...

Table 1 ‐ HE student enrolments by HE provider, search by HE provider
‘Falmouth’, filter by academic year and mode of study.)

Pursuant to Section 22 of FOIA 2000, the information that you seek for the
current year is exempt from disclosure at this time as it is intended for
future publication.  (It will be posted at the end of this year and will
be available at the above link.)   Section 22 is a qualified exemption
which is subject to the Public Interest Test. The University holds the
information that you seek but has therefore weighed up whether it is in
the public interest to disclose or withhold the information at this stage.

As the information will be published as described above and it is
reasonable to withhold that information at this time, the University is
content that it is in the public interest to withhold this information at
this time. If you wish to contact us at the end of December, we can supply
you with 2018/2019 figures.

Appeal Process

If you are dissatisfied with the handling of your request, you have the
right to ask for an internal review. Internal review requests should be

University, Penryn Campus, Treliever Road, Penryn, TR10 9FE.
