Dear A Marfo,
Re: Freedom of Information request
Thank you for your email of 02 October 2019. You made the following requests for
information:
1. Can members of the public find if a Cafcass officer is registered on your database system?
If so, what is the procedure?
Cafcass does not hold a central database of Cafcass Family Court Advisers. Information on
all Cafcass employees, including Family Court Advisers, our held by Cafcass on central
payroll systems for payroll and employment purposes.
As a condition of employment, Family Court Advisers must maintain their registration with the
Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). All professionals registered with the HCPC
can be seen on the
HCPC register which can be accessed by the public.
2. Is Cafcass representatives employed by the court, social services or by Cafcass ? If so are
they governed by a central body?
Cafcass is a non-departmental public body accountable to Wendy Moreton MP, Secretary of
State at the Ministry of Justice.
Cafcass is therefore independent of the courts, local authorities, the national health service
and education authorities. Cafcass is governed by
a Board consisting of members with
various areas of expertise.
