Dear Cleveland Police,

I am writing to you under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 to request the following information from yourselves relating to reports of ghosts received by the force.

1.
I would like to be supplied with details of reports of ghosts received by your force in the 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 calendar years and any reports received in the present year to date.
I would like if possible this information to include;
Date, Time of Day, Location, Brief Description of the Sighting.
Please provide the information in the form of an excel spreadsheet.

If it is not possible to provide the information requested due to the information exceeding the cost of compliance limits identified in Section 12, please provide advice and assistance, under the Section 16 obligations of the Act, as to how I can refine my request.
If you can identify any ways that my request could be refined I would be grateful for any further advice and assistance.

I write in connection with your request for information dated 5th September 2019 and received by this office on that date. Please accept our apologies for the late response but unfortunately the department that would provide the information is having some staffing issues and we have been unable to obtain an update on the information requested. Should you still require the information for between May and September 2019 please advise us and we will endeavour to obtain the information. Below are the questions raised in your request, and our response.

Please provide the information in the form of an excel spreadsheet
a) We have attached a document that contains information, up to May 2019, relating to ghosts; please note we have removed anything in relation to the theft i.e. ‘Ghost gift set’, ‘Ghost Bikes’ ‘Call of Duty Ghost’ or that someone was being ghosted.

Please note any statistical data supplied in relation to Freedom of Information requests is a snapshot of data held at the time the request was received by the Freedom of Information office and is subject to constant change/updates.

The Cleveland Police response to your request is unique and it should be noted that Police Forces do not use generic systems or identical procedures to capture and record data therefore responses from Cleveland Police should not be used as a comparison with any other force response you receive.

If you are not satisfied with this response or any actions taken in dealing with your request you have the right to request an independent internal review of your case under our review procedure. The APP College of Policing guidance states that a request for internal review should be made within 20 working days of the date on this response or 40 working days if extenuating circumstances to account for the delay can be evidenced.
