Dear Mr. Rubio
Information request
Our reference: FOI2019/00413
Thank you for your Freedom of Information request of 8th April 2019, which read as
follows:
‘As part of a personal project for a game, I would like to know which font is
used for your line-side speed limit signs.
Below is an example of what I am looking for:
https://ibb.co/4ZCvzPg
I notice it isn’t the usual ‘NR Brunel’ font which is used on station signs, as the
fonts do not match up.’
I have processed your request under the terms of the Freedom of Information Act
2000 (FOIA).
I have made enquiries with a number of my colleagues within Network Rail who have
advised that based on the example which you have provided, it appears that this
type of font dates back to when the rail network was previously managed by British
Rail. Our archives team have confirmed that we do not retain British Rail records and
therefore, we do not hold the information which you have requested.
If you would like to find out whether the British Rail records contain the information
that you require, then you may wish to visit the Railway Museum website to check
former British Rail records
(https://www.railwaymuseum.org.uk/).
You may also find it useful to visit the following websites as they provide information
specifically about railway speed and safety signs.

advice provided is useful to you.
