Dear Imane,
Freedom of Information Request - RFI20190525
Thank you for your request to the BBC of 22 March 2019 seeking the fol owing information
under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (‘the Act’):
“My name is Imane Khetta and I am 21 years old. I am currently studying in Harrow College.
I am attending the Access to Humanities course, which requires me by the end of the year to
present an Extended Project. I am writing to you requesting the Freedom of Information to
know the numbers of Muslim employees you have in your company. This is because the topic
I chose is: "Is Social Media increasing Islamophobia in UK?" and the informations from you
would help my reasearch to have solid evidence and arguments, therefore becoming very
decisive for my final results.”
Every year the BBC reports to licence fee payers and audiences on our content, performance
and finances by publishing the Annual Report and Accounts. The latest Annual Report
available covers the year 2017/18.
Within the Annual Report, there is the BBC’s Equality Information Report, which provides an
update on the progress the BBC has made in relation to equality, diversity and inclusion for
our workforce. There is also information about staff religions and beliefs which you may find
useful. A link to the Annual Report can be found below:

As set out in section 6(1)(b)(ii) of the Act, our subsidiaries (including BBC Studioworks
Limited, UKTV, BBC Global News Ltd and BBC Studios Ltd), as well as the charities BBC
Media Action and BBC Children in Need, are not subject to the Act. Therefore information
regarding their activities is also not subject to the Act and has not been included in this
response.
