Loan charge and suicides
Dear Her Majesty’s Treasury,
Mel Stride has refused to attend APPG, HOL, meet constituents, help his constituents - on the subject of the controversial loan charge.
Ross Thomson highlighted that people have taken their own life due to the loan charge and this was highlighted at PMQ. A bog standard response was sent by Mel Stride and failed to answer the question.
So, my first question is - how many suicides are HMRC aware of in relation to the Loan Charge?
My second question. Did HMRC hire people knowing that they were using schemes?
My third question. Will Mel Stride actually agree to attend either the APPG or meet with HOL?
This is no democracy - the tax is retrospective and tax evaders have more rights than those using schemes that were reported to HMRC throughout their lifecycle. Yet the rule of law is not followed.
