1) Please could you provide me an excel sheet containing all of the following information for the past 2 DBS Dentistry admission cycles: 2016/2017 and 2017/2018. If you do not have information for the years requested, I kindly ask for you to provide the statistics for the next most recent 2 years of admissions.

* A-level predicted grades
* Graduate/Non-Graduate
* Interviewed / Not interviewed
* Made an offer / Not made an offer

2) Are graduates applying for the program given equal consideration to those applying without any higher education of such?

3) To what extent will the A-Level grades of post-graduates applying be considered?

I acknowledge receipt of your email received by this office on 13/01/19 in
which you requested information regarding Dentistry applications.

 

Your request will now be dealt with under the Freedom of Information Act
2000 and has been allocated reference FOI19-019 which should be quoted in
all correspondence. We will respond to your request within 20 working days
starting the next working day after receipt, therefore you can expect to
receive a response no later than 11/02/19.

 

Where we consider that we will not be able to meet this deadline or if
further time is required to consider the public interest test we will
contact you as soon as possible and give you a revised date for response.

I am writing in response to your Freedom of Information request dated
13/01/19 in which you requested information regarding dentistry
applications.

 

For ease of reference, I have reproduced your questions below and set out
our corresponding responses.

 

1) Please could you provide me an excel sheet containing all of the
following information for the past 2 DBS Dentistry admission cycles:
2016/2017 and 2017/2018. If you do not have information for the years
requested, I kindly ask for you to provide the statistics for the next
most recent 2 years of admissions.

Please see attached documents. Please note that students who applied as
graduates are marked with a black dot.

Please note that while the University holds some information about
predicted grades, the information is not routinely collated and would
involve investigating individual records to retrieve predicted grades from
each application form.  Therefore the time involved in collating and
providing the information you have requested would exceed 18 hours.
Accordingly section 12(2) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 will
apply. If you have not already done so, you may consider contacting UCAS,
as it may be that they will be able to supply some of the information
which you have requested. 

 

2) Are graduates applying for the program given equal consideration to
those applying without any higher education of such?

3) To what extent will the A-Level grades of post-graduates applying be
considered?

 

Graduates are given equal consideration as we score the degree predicted
or obtained (2:1 or higher) and lower A Level and GCSE grades are required
(ABB as opposed to AAA for school leavers, GCSEs grade A/B with B in
English language as opposed to As in all subjects including English/Welsh
First Language).
