Dear Ms Narwan,

Before actioning your F.O.I. request some further clarification is required.

Firstly, Kent Police do not operate a 'screening out' of crimes process, as such we will be unable to supply any data.

Secondly, please see the link below for Home Office Crime Recording. There you will find how crime outcomes are recorded, based on these, is there a specific outcome you require; if so which one would you like so we are able to process for your request.

I will place your F.O.I. request until hold awaiting your response.

Regards,

Dear Freedom of Information Kent,

Thank you for your response.

When a crime is reported, I understand that an assessment is made of the crime recorded, plus the likelihood of achieving the identification of a suspect/offender for that offence. A judgment is then made on local matters and the likelihood of identifying an offender. An informed decision is then made whether further enquiries are necessary, would require the use of disproportionate resource, or if the matter can be filed pending further information or evidence coming to light, without further investigation. This may also be referred to as "undetected" crimes. These are the figures i am hoping to obtain.

Yours sincerely,

Gurpreet Narwan
