Dear Sir/Madam
I am writing in response to your Freedom of Information request dated 4 March 2018
concerning student disciplinary actions and ghostwriters.
I have annotated your e-mail below with the response from the Registrar of Leeds Arts
University, which is shown in blue text. You will see that the response in each case is a
negative response i.e. with reference to questions 1 and 2 there were no cases of the type
specified and, with reference to questions 3 and 4, the response is 'not applicable'. As
requested, I have also attached this reply as a PDF.
I hope that this is the information that you require. If you are dissatisfied with the
handling of your request, you have the right to ask for an internal review. Internal review
requests should be submitted within two months of the date of receipt of this response
and should be addressed to: the Vice-Chancellor, Leeds Arts University, Blenheim Walk,
Leeds, LS2 9AQ.
If you are not content with the outcome of the internal review, you have the right to
apply directly to the Information Commissioner for a decision. The Information
Commissioner can be contacted at: Information Commissioner’s Office, Wycliffe House,
Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5AF.
Yours faithfully
Fiona Bagchi

Subject: Freedom of Information request - Ghostwriter in the university
Dear Leeds College of Art,
This request is under the Freedom of Information Act 2000:
1. Please inform me of the number of disciplinary actions taken against students resulting in a fine
and/or expulsion in the last five academic years, the reasons for such action being taken, and the
results of any appeal.
None. 2. In those academic years (2013 to 2017), How many of those are the case where a ghostwriter
involve? (for ex: assignment or dissertation were written by somebody else)
None. 3. How to find out that ghostwriter involvement since many ghostwriter organisations offer the
plagiarism checking?
Not applicable. 4. Is there any case where your staff involved in that unfair practice, being a ghostwriter for the
student?
Not applicable. I would request this data in either Excel or CSV format or searchable PDF.
If you feel the information that I have requested cannot be compiled within a reasonable time
frame, I would appreciate if you at least can answer my first question.
If you need any clarification then please contact me via email. Under your section 16 duty to provide
advice and assistance, I would expect you contact me if you find this request unmanageable in any
way.
Yours faithfully,
Wan Ulfa Nur Zuhra
