Request for plans, adoption surveys, correspondence relating to underground culvert at Bakers Mill, Sudbury, Suffolk

We're waiting for Bakers Mill Treasurer to read a recent response and update the status.

Bakers Mill Treasurer

Dear Environment Agency,

The Bakers Mill Community Association is attempting to determine liability for the ongoing inspection and maintenance of the underground culvert that links the mill race with the Baker's pond at the Bakers Mill housing development in Sudbury, Suffolk.

The developers (Barrett Homes) and management company (HML Aston Chater) seem unable to provide this information.

Please provide me with copies of all plans, adoption surveys, correspondence and details of inspection requirements you have in your possession

Thank you

Yours faithfully,

Glen Mansbridge
Treasurer

Bakers Mill Treasurer

Dear Enquiries_EastAnglia,

Thank you for this information. It appears that this all relates directly to the river and not the culvert that diverts off the river at the location of Cornard Lock, runs into a mill race then through an underground culvert to the Baker's mill pond, before rejoining the river. None of the information you have supplied shows this water course. Originally it was part of the mill site, then sold to Nestle Purina before the site was purchased by Barratt Homes 10 years ago for housing development. Barratt's narrowed the water course by running a culvert underneath the ground, from the mill race to the mill pond. We need information relating to this culvert - especially a plan showing its route plus any adoption surveys or planning information that would have been submitted by Barratts.

Yours sincerely,

Bakers Mill Treasurer
