Dear Mr Sausman
Freedom of Information Act – Request for Information
Our Reference: FOI 2450
Thank you for your Freedom of Information request which was received on 16 June
2017. You asked for:-
I am researching NHS cost recovery under the ICR scheme. Please provide the
following information for each NHS Trust & Health Board in the UK:
1) No. of cases registered by the DWP Compensation Recovery Unit (CRU) in 16/17,
split by road traffic, occupational, public property, and other cases.
2) No. of settlements recorded by the CRU in 16/17 split by road traffic, occupational,
public property, and other cases.
3) Total recoveries made to trusts/boards by the CRU in 16/17, split by road traffic,
occupational, public property, and other cases.
4) Average time (weeks) taken to recovery money from the initial point of identifying that
money is owed, split by road traffic, occupational, public property, and other cases if
possible.
If other categorizations are used to split cases by type, please feel free to use them.
Thank you.
As noted in our previous response, the DWP Compensation Recovery Unit (CRU)
administers the NHS Injury Cost Recovery Scheme on behalf of the Department of
Health (DoH) who are the registered data controllers in relation to the information
requested above. All future requests should be sent to the DoH accordingly.
I can confirm that we estimate that the cost of complying with your request would exceed
the appropriate limit for central Government, set by regulations at £600. This represents
the estimated cost of one person spending 3½ working days in determining whether the
Department holds the information, and locating, retrieving and extracting it.
Under section 12 of the Freedom of Information Act the Department is not obliged to
comply with your request and we will not be processing your request further. However,
to be helpful I have provided a link to the data published on the Gov.uk website In
relation to the NHS Injury Cost Recovery Scheme which you may find useful.
