Re: Freedom of Information Request
Thank you for your request received on 14th June 2010:
Many references are made to your "domestic violence toolkit", please advise the following:
1) What this "toolkit" consists of.
2) The polices that your staff should follow in cases of alleged domestic violence.
3) If staff allocated to cases were domestic violence is alleged have specific training in the area of
domestic violence and identifying violence.
4) The specific reports that should be completed in cases of alleged domestic violence.
Please see below:
Please find attached the Domestic Violence Toolkit. The domestic violence toolkit is a flexible resource that
can be used to assist staff to work through these difficult issues. The toolkit sets out a research knowledge
base, examples of evidenced based practice and some minimum professional standards for safeguarding
and promoting the wellbeing of a child who has experienced domestic violence. http://www.cafcass.gov.uk/publications/policies.aspx
is a link to the Cafcass’ Safeguarding Framework,
which links in with the domestic violence toolkit.
All Cafcass practitioners have access to Domestic Violence training, and follow the Safeguarding
framework and Domestic Violence toolkit. There in no ‘specific’ report as mentioned in question 4, however
please do clarify your question as required.
