1. What minimum qualifications are required to be a communications manager in your organisation (based on your existing job specs)
2. May I request a copy of the job specification for the position of communications officer
3. How many people work in the communications team & what is the composition, eg one manager and five officers, three managers and ten officers, five managers, five officers and five assistants etc etc

Thank you for your email dated 7 May 2016, which was received by West
Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service today, requesting the following
information:

West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service acknowledges receipt of your
request and confirms that it will respond to you with the information it
holds, unless the information is covered by one of the exemptions in the
Act.   We will respond to you as soon as possible, and in any event within
the 20 working days required by the Freedom of Information Act 2000, in
the manner requested.  Accordingly, we will respond with the information
that you have requested by 7 June 2016.

 

In some circumstances a fee may be payable and if that is the case, I will
let you know.  A fees notice will be issued to you, and you will be
required to pay before we will proceed to deal with your request.

 

Exemptions under the Act

Although you may request any information we hold, there are a few
exemptions under the Act that mean that we may not be able to disclose the
information you need. If we decide that we cannot release the information
requested, we will explain which exemption is relevant in this case.

West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service response:

 

West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service (WYFRS) has now completed its
search for the information which you requested and can confirm as
follows:-

 

The WYFRS Communications team comprises of:-

 

1 x Communications Supervisor – salary band £30,000 - £34,999*

 

3 x Electronic Technicians – salary band £25,000 - £29,999*

 

2 x Communications Administrators – salary band £20,000 - £24,999*

 

The team’s job descriptions and specifications are detailed in the
attached PDF documents**

 

*Due to salary bands being narrow, this would constitute to personal
information and therefore, we have itemised the information in bands of
£5,000.

 

** Please note under Section 40(2) - Personal Information of the Freedom
of Information Act 2000, exact salary details and specific grades have
been redacted from the information provided where the information can be
used to identify living individuals.
