Dunton Garden Suburb Consultation
Dear Basildon District Council,
In January 2015 Basildon and Brentwood Councils carried out a public consultation on the proposed development called Dunton Garden Suburb. In January 2016 Basildon and Brentwood intent to proceed to consider the next stage of their Local Development Plans leading to new consultations. The council's statements of community involvement say that the results of previous related consultations will be published before moving to the next stage of the plan. It now appears from the council's forward plans that neither council has plans to honour this in the case of the Dunton Garden Suburb consultation.
I request that the public comments made to the Dunton Garden Suburb consultation should now be made public so that councillors and the public can examine them before the next consultations starts. If the council officers have prepared any responses to these comments then I request that those responses should also be made public now.
In order to understand why a response to the consultation has not yet been provided I also request copies of any correspondence between the councils relating to Dunton Garden Suburb since the end of the Dunton Garden Suburb consultation.

I am writing to request an internal review of Basildon District Council's handling of my FOI request 'Dunton Garden Suburb Consultation'.
I asked for all comments made to the Dunton Garden Suburb to be made public. In response I was referred to the statement of consultation which only gives a brief summary of points included in the comments. I would like the review to reconsider my request for all the comments to be published.

Concerning my request for publication of comments on the Dunton Garden Suburb consultation, I am grateful for the councils efforts to make these comments available. I wish to point out that only 877 comments have now been published but the statement of consultation said there were 1528. I understand that some comments may have been marked as invalid but many people are saying their comments are missing and they do not understand why. There also appear to be comments submitted by various bodies missing, e.g. the comment from Thurrock Council. I assume there has therefore been a technical error and hope you will be able to investigate and find the missing comments.

They should now all appear. Just under 500 had got stuck during the final upload, which I hadn't spotted until this morning.
All those we had submitted have now been uploaded, unless they were processed as invalid due to illegal or offensive language or discrimination. Those consultees that have had comments invalidated should have received an email, if they had a registered email address. The Council has been unable to take these comments on board and they are not publishable.
