Dear Mr Newbegin,
Re: Environmental Information Regulations – Demolition of Listed Buildings
Thank you for your request made on the 22nd April 2015 in relation to demolition of listed
buildings. Your request is provided below:
“Please advise with regard to each of the 5 most recent 12 month periods for which data is
available:
1. How many applications have you been consulted on across all LPA's in England where
an application has been made for consent to demolish all or part of a Listed Building?
2. Of those applications referred to in paragraph 1. above, how many did you oppose and
how many did you either approve of or raise no objection to?
3. What are the three most common reasons you give;
(a) as the primary reason to recommend refusal of an application?
(b) as the primary reason to recommend approval of an application?”
Please see the zip file attached to the e-mail sending this letter. The zip file contains a
spread sheet giving answers to the questions that you have submitted.
The information is an extract from our live database of all Listed Buildings Cases which
have been registered as being applications for partial or total demolition of a listed
building. This includes both the level of response we offered as well as the Local Planning
Authority (LPA) reference number if you wish to read our advice in full. This advice is
publically available direct from the relevant LPA website.
If you are unhappy with this response you may request an internal review. Details of our
review procedure are attached.
