Request for information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA)

I refer to your request which HMRC received on 21  July 2014, for the following information:  
 
The most recent figures relating to the number of imported USED motor vehicles and their 
countries of origin. 
 
Under s21 of the Freedom of Information Act, we are not required to provide information in 
response to a request if it is already reasonably accessible to you. The information you 
require concerning the number of imported used motor vehicles can be found on the 
department’s website: www.uktradeinfo.com by following the links to: ‘Build Your Own Data 
Tables’ then to “Data by Commodity Code”. The chapter you require is 87: Vehicles Other 
Than Railway or Tramway Rolling Stock, And Parts And Accessories Thereof. These online 
tables currently hold data on the value of trade in GBP, the weight (NetMass) in KG, the 
number of vehicles (depending on specific commodity code), and the month of import. This 
data can be downloaded as a PDF, CSV or Excel workbook.

In relation to the second part of the request concerning the Country of Origin of goods, 
HMRC does not hold any information on the country of origin for goods traded within the EU.
