Thank you for your request under the Freedom of Information Act (‘the Act’) of 7 July 2014,
seeking the following information:
“How much did the BBC spend to attend the LA Screenings television event in the following
years:
May 2010?
May 2011?
May 2012?
May 2013?
May 2014?”
BBC Television offered the following response and information in light of your request.
The BBC aims to secure the best content from across the world for its audiences. The major market for
viewing and acquiring new US programming is the LA Screenings, which is attended by broadcasters
from all over the world including BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Five, BSkyB, UKTV, Virgin Media, MTV and others
from the UK. The BBC has a rigorous expenses policy and all BBC staff must adhere to it.
The financial information below is specific to your request.
2010: £16,400
2011: £16,428
2012: £13,309
2013: £10,585*
2014: £13,385*
* The figures for 2013/14 do not include expenses.
For 2013 a longer time-frame is required for Finance to finalise the exact figure. Expenses for 2014
have not yet been submitted.
