1980 and 1981 Anglian Water Authority records concerning the River Glen at Surfleet near Spalding Lincolnshire

We're waiting for JEREMY HARRALL to read recent responses and update the status.

Dear Environment Agency,

I have made two previous FOI requests to the EA directly via their website.
I received no response, either to acknowledge the request nor in answer to those enquiries.
My hope is that by using the more transparent platform of 'WhatDoTheyKnow' I may receive a response.

In the years 1980 and 1981 it is my understanding that the Anglian Water Authority had custodianship of the River Glen in Lincolnshire (among other inland water ways) Soon after this time, the NRA was formed and adopted that role in maintaining and managing the River Glen and associated equipment i.e. sluices and locks. The Environment Agency subsumed the NRA along with other bodies.

Does The Environment Agency hold the records of the National Rivers Authority and the AWA from the years 1980 and 1981, specifically for the River Glen at Surfleet near Spalding, Lincolnshire?

Yours faithfully,

JEREMY HARRALL

Dear Mr Harrall,

Anglian Water Authority, through their Rivers Division, were the responsible authority during 1980-81. The National Rivers Authority (NRA) was not formed until 1989.

Unfortunately we do not hold any detailed records from that time. There were a number of office and depot moves and closures when the NRA was formed and separated from the newly-privatised Water Companies. We do hold some archived drawings that have been passed down to us. It is by no means a complete holding of all the work carried out by our predecessor Authorities but if there is anything specific you require we will be able to search through them.

Regards

Nigel Cooper
