Dear Freedom of Information Unit,
You acknowledged my request for information about wasted costs orders incurred by the CPS and correctly informed me that receipt of this information was legally required to be provided under the Act by Jan 2, 2014. You have failed to meet that target.
Many wasted costs orders are occasioned by the CPS failing to meet deadlines. In such circumstances you may feel that your failure to respond to this request in time is exquisitly embarrassing. Be that as it may I now require you to deal with this request via an internal review and provide the information required
Yours sincerely,
James Parry

Dear Mr Parry,

Dear Freedom of Information Unit,
Thank you fir your belated response.
In dealing with this request it appears likely that you are able to set out the total paid out in respect of wasted costs incurred under section 19, 19A and 19B of the Prosecution of Offences Act and inter parties costs. What was that total for the periods set out in the original request?
In the absence of being able to identify the circumstances in which adverse costs orders are made, how does the CPS review and address the inefficiencies or other causes which lead to such orders being incurred?
Clarification of those issues appears consistent with the original request
Yours sincerely,
James Parry
