A100 Medicine Admission Statistics

The request was successful.

Dear University of St Andrews,

I am making a request regarding statistics for the A100 UCAS cycle. All requests are for the 2011/2012 cycle unless stated otherwise. Thank you.

1) How many of the students admitted were studying A Levels?
2) How many of the students admitted were international?
3) For each applicant who was unsuccessful in obtaining an interview, can I get a list of their UKCAT score, their GCSE's, and predicted A Level results and subjects studied.
4)For each applicant who was successful in obtaining an interview, can I get a list of their UKCAT score, their GCSE's, and predicted A Level results and subjects studied.
5) Can I get a list of criteria that the interviewers looked at during the interview to determine a candidates suitability?
6) How was the interview scored? Was it a score out of 10 by each interviewer or anything along those lines?
7) For each applicant who was successful in obtaining an offer, can I get a list of their UKCAT score, their GCSE's, and predicted A Level results and subjects studied as well as their score in the interview stage?
8) I would also like any scoring or grading system used to assess interview performance and if a form or such is provided to interviewers to record performance is available I would also kindly request this. This specific request is for this years admission
cycle, ie 2012/2013.
10) Can I also get details of successful and unsuccessful candidates that studied the IB and their various predicted results and UKCAT scores?

I would like all of this data to be in a machine readable format if that is fine. Thank you very much

Yours faithfully,

Mr Choudhary

Dear Freedom of Information,

I would like some clarification on question 5. The university states that each element of the interview is worth 33% of the total interview score. What are the 3 elements? This was meant to be answered in question 5 but the university pointed me to the website. After looking through the website, I was unable to find anything. Perhaps the university may direct me to where specifically the criteria is held. If that is not possible, it would be great if I could get the list as requested.

Yours sincerely,

Mr Choudhary

Dear Mr Choudhary,

Many thanks for your follow-on enquiry below. Details of the three areas/criteria that the interviewers assess are available on our website under the section 'How are students selected?/The Interview Process/Interview' however, on receipt of your email I tried to access the relevant webpage and there appears to be a technical problem as the full text is not showing properly. We are currently working to rectify this. In the meantime, I have copied the text into the attached document for your information and apologise for any inconvenience.

For your further information, details of how applicants are ranked after interview can also be found on the website in the section entitled ' How are students selected?' at http://medicine.st-andrews.ac.uk/prospec... .

I am grateful to you for bringing the problem with the relevant webpage to our attention and I trust this answers your enquiry. Should you remain dissatisfied with the University's response I would refer you to my earlier communication which provides details of the review process.

Regards

June
