UK Press Card Authority
A public authority
The UK Press Card Authority is not subject to the Freedom of Information Act. We list it here as it has a public regulatory role in accrediting representatives of news gathering and reporting organisations. We consider the role to be public as the accreditation is formally recognised by state bodies, for example Practice Direction 27B enables card holders to attend hearings of family proceedings which take place in private, and access to the well of the courts at the Old Bailey is provided to card holders.
