House of Commons Commission
A public authority
Please do NOT make the same FOI request to BOTH the House of Commons Commission AND the House of Commons.
Requests sent to the House of Commons Commission are sent to and dealt with the House of Commons staff, because the House of Commons Commission forms part of the House of Commons and is the same public authority for the purposes of FOI. More details on the Commons Commission
We historically listed the Commission separately from the House of Commons because the Commons ceases to exist when dissolved and thus doesn't respond to FOI requests, but the Commission continues during dissolution, albeit it's not subject to FOI. However, the Commons have since advised that this distinction is irrelevant for the purposes of FOI requests, which will simply be put on hold until the Commons resumes, irrespective of whether they are sent "to" the Commons or the Committee.
